So, ever since I finished watching From up on Poppy Hill (my soon to be fourth time just for this entry), I had to show how much similarities there are between these two movies: Whisper of the Heart (Mimi wo Sumaseba) and From Up on Poppy Hill (Kokuriko-zaka Kara).

JUST LOOK AT THESE!

And something I thought was really cool :D

SO DAMN TRUE.

Okay, back to my homework.

Whisper of the heart is my fave Ghibli work, and I feel that Poppy Hill does have similarity with it. I find Poppy Hill story is cheesy though, but since I'm biased with love for Okada  I can tolarate the story .... But story wise I still like Whisper of the Heart the best. So simple, so innocent and no demons involved. hahahahaa...

I couldn't agree more :3
I just rewatched Whisper of the Heart today and remembered that seiji was the second nonreal guy I ever liked (the first being the baron from the cat returns). ;D

THOUGH I DO LIKE OKADA AS WELL, I had so much trouble fitting his voice with the character xD

From up on poppy hill doesnt seem to make me squeal as much as whisper of the heart, but it still was just as calm and nice to watch.

I think whisper of the heart is one of the most deepest and underrated ghibli works out there. It says so much about ourselves and somehow, I feel we can all relate to it. I'm glad there's someone else who thinks this too. :D I think lots of ppl don't give other ghibli works a chance because miyazaki wasn't involved. Ppl need to see that there are other talented directors as well in Ghibli.
