So, ever since I finished watching From up on Poppy Hill (my soon to be fourth time just for this entry), I had to show how much similarities there are between these two movies: Whisper of the Heart (Mimi wo Sumaseba) and From Up on Poppy Hill (Kokuriko-zaka Kara).

JUST LOOK AT THESE!

And something I thought was really cool :D

SO DAMN TRUE.

Okay, back to my homework.

Haha... And all this while I thought I am only imagining by myself that they do have similarities... Glad to find someone have the same idea as me. I love Whisper In My Heart *and The Cat's Returns*. My most favourite Ghibli movie is Mononoke Hime though... XD

YAAAAAAAAAAAAY! I seriously thought I was alone on this too!
I loved the Cat Returns! But I can't pick a favorite. They are all great in their own special way xD

*HUGS*

Btw, how have ya been? haven't seen you around in a while ;^;

XD Yeah I love most of the Ghibli movie... It's true that they are special in their own way...

Well, Mononoke Hime is kinda special to me coz it's was my first Ghibli movie I ever watch. I remembered that my siblings and I were so eager to watch this movie ever since we read it's review in a comic magazine a few years ago... Back then we didn't have a VCD player. So we didn't watch anime much. When my aunt gave us her VCD player (old but still usable), we were so happy and finally got to watch the movie on TV. :DDD

I think except a few of their old anime, I have watch most of their famous movies... I like their slice of life type of movie and also enjoy their fantasy type too. I heard there's gonna be another new movie... I wonder what it's all about...

Yeah I've been very busy with work *and Boy LOL* Sorry that I haven't updated much... I'll try to update when I have more free time... ^^;;; I miss everyone...

Whisper of the heart is my fave Ghibli work, and I feel that Poppy Hill does have similarity with it. I find Poppy Hill story is cheesy though, but since I'm biased with love for Okada  I can tolarate the story .... But story wise I still like Whisper of the Heart the best. So simple, so innocent and no demons involved. hahahahaa...

I couldn't agree more :3
I just rewatched Whisper of the Heart today and remembered that seiji was the second nonreal guy I ever liked (the first being the baron from the cat returns). ;D

THOUGH I DO LIKE OKADA AS WELL, I had so much trouble fitting his voice with the character xD

From up on poppy hill doesnt seem to make me squeal as much as whisper of the heart, but it still was just as calm and nice to watch.

I think whisper of the heart is one of the most deepest and underrated ghibli works out there. It says so much about ourselves and somehow, I feel we can all relate to it. I'm glad there's someone else who thinks this too. :D I think lots of ppl don't give other ghibli works a chance because miyazaki wasn't involved. Ppl need to see that there are other talented directors as well in Ghibli.

That's true.
Somehow, Studio Ghibli films have certain qualities that we see in its films - endearing plots, captivating scenery, and beautiful harmonies.
And what made this film extra special is that Okada's part of it.;D

I didn't think about Mimi wo Sumaseba when I watched Coquelicot zaka kara (I write it this way 'cause Coquelicot means Poppy Hill in French and is pronounced コクリコ...the title made sense when I realised that XD)

I totally agree with you about similarities...and it makes me want to watch Mimi wo Sumaseba again ~~~~

What does Coquelicot mean? I didn't use it because I couldn't remember how to spell it that way xD

YOU SHOULD WATCH MIM WO SUMASEBA AGAIN. I watched it for my third time since forever and really loved it. I watched Otonari for the ninth(?) time yesterday and finally understood the significance of Ucchi (haha, I forgot the actor's real name. shame on me xD) mentioning what "keynote" is.
